DIBL recently installed a state-of-the-art iron filtration bhola system in Bhola, addressing farmers’ long-standing concerns about the quality of irrigation water in the region. This project now ensures clean and iron-free water, which is essential for healthy crop growth.

📍 Project Description
Bhola is one of the leading agricultural regions in Bangladesh, but farmers here often face challenges with the quality of irrigation water. In particular, excessive iron in the water can harm crops and create various complications in irrigation systems. To solve this problem, DIBL installed an iron filtration system in Charfasson, Bhola. A local agricultural entrepreneur in Charfasson funded this project, and DIBL successfully implemented it. This system was installed on just 1 decimal of land, making it an ideal solution for small and medium-scale farmers.
🔧 Technology and Installation: Advanced iron filtration bhola System
The DIBL team expertly installed this iron filtration bhola system. The primary goal of the project was to ensure the cleanliness of water from irrigation sources. Specifically, iron-laden water was hindering the maintenance of clean supply systems. To tackle this challenge, DIBL utilized an integrated iron filter system including vessels, pipes, backwash valves, pumps, and a reservoir. These components are highly effective for removing iron from water and are designed for long-lasting service.
DIBL’s Assistant Engineer, Chowdhury Hasan Bin Mizan, supervised the project as Project Manager, which played a crucial role in its successful implementation. With this system now in place, farmers can use iron-free, pure water to increase their crop production.
🌱 Farmer Benefits
- Pure Irrigation Water: The iron filter completely removes harmful iron from irrigation water, which is essential for the health of crop roots.
- Increased Irrigation System Lifespan: Using iron-free water reduces the risk of pipes and sprinklers becoming clogged, thereby increasing the lifespan of the irrigation system.
- Improved Crop Health: Pure water ensures better crop growth and higher yields. It also helps boost the disease resistance of crops.
- Enhanced Efficacy of Fertilizers and Pesticides: Using clean water increases the effectiveness of fertilizers and pesticides, which reduces wastage for farmers.
🔬 What Research Says
Research has shown that the quality of irrigation water directly impacts crop yields. In particular, excessive amounts of mineral elements like iron can hinder crop growth. Improving water quality using an iron filtration system can significantly increase crop yields. According to Agricultural Water Management research (Elsevier, Q1), crop yields can increase by up to 20-50% when high-quality water is used for irrigation. This is a crucial step in proper irrigation water management and crop health protection. You can find more information on this topic in the Agricultural Water Management journal.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
❓ Are iron filters only available in Bhola?
No, DIBL supplies iron filters and other modern irrigation equipment across Bangladesh. If you contact us with your needs, we can provide service in your area as well.
❓ What types of equipment are used in an iron filtration bhola system?
This system primarily uses vessels, pipes, backwash valves, pumps, and a reservoir. These components provide an integrated process for removing iron from water, which makes the iron filtration bhola system highly effective.
❓ Why is iron-laden water harmful to crops?
Iron-laden water can accumulate in crop roots, causing chlorosis, which reduces the plant’s ability to absorb nutrients. It also clogs irrigation system pipes, reducing their efficiency. Therefore, systems like iron filtration bhola are very necessary.
❓ How much can an iron filter installation cost?
The cost of installing an iron filter depends on its size, capacity, and the equipment used. Although it is a one-time expense, in the long run, it is very cost-effective for protecting water and crop quality. For accurate pricing, you can contact us and tell us your requirements.
❓ Does DIBL also help with other irrigation system issues?
Yes, DIBL not only provides iron filters but also a wide range of modern agricultural technologies including drip irrigation, fertigation, greenhouses, and hydroponics.
