In Munshiganj, DIBL successfully installed an automated Fogging Irrigation Munshiganj system on 10 decimal land, eliminating the problem of timely water spraying for hydroponic grass cultivation. This modern fogging system has made farmer Ahmed Kamal’s grass cultivation process easier and more effective.

đ Project Details
In Munshiganj district, farmer Ahmed Kamal was cultivating hydroponic grass for his livestock. The biggest challenge in this type of cultivation is ensuring timely and adequate water and humidity supply for proper grass growth. Manually performing this task is quite time-consuming and labor-intensive. DIBL’s engineer Imtiaz Raihan and his team brought a solution to this problem through a modern fogging irrigation system.
đ§ Technology and Installation: Fogging Irrigation Munshiganj
DIBL completed the project in April 2022 within just four days. This project utilized a well-organized Fogging Irrigation Munshiganj system, whose main components are:
- Centrifugal Pump: which ensures water supply at the required pressure.
- Filter: to maintain water quality and prevent fogger nozzles from clogging.
- Misting Fogger and Fogging Tube: which sprays water like a fine mist and creates a favorable humid atmosphere for the grass.
- Connectors: efficiently connects the entire system.
This automated system achieves desired results in a short period. It is extremely important for the healthy growth of hydroponic grass.
đą Farmer Benefits and Achievements
After installing this fogging irrigation system, farmer Ahmed Kamal experienced the following benefits in his hydroponic grass cultivation:
- Automated Operation: Freedom from the hassle of manual spraying, which saves both time and labor.
- Healthy Grass Growth: Due to proper humidity, grass growth is faster and healthier, which improves the quality of animal feed.
- Efficient Water Use: The fogging method uses water very efficiently without waste.
Through this project, the automated fogging spray method successfully resolved grass cultivation problems, which helped increase the farmer’s productivity and income. The revenue from the project was 65,000 BDT. DIBL’s Fogging Irrigation Munshiganj solution is a shining example of modernization in Bangladesh’s agricultural sector.

đŦ What Research Says
Modern agricultural research has proven that fogging or misting systems are highly effective for temperature control and humidity maintenance in greenhouses and hydroponic environments. This helps to accelerate crop growth and improve quality.
- According to research in the Irrigation Science (Springer, Q1) journal, fogging systems reduce crop stress by lowering dry air conditions and increase photosynthesis rates, which can increase greenhouse crop productivity by 20-30%.
- The use of such specialized irrigation methods reduces leaf dryness, which also lowers the risk of fungal diseases. Furthermore, water usage can be reduced by 30-50%, as published in the Agricultural Water Management journal.
DIBL’s Fogging Irrigation Munshiganj project is a successful application of these scientific principles. Drip Irrigation BD Ltd and the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) are working to digitize and modernize Bangladesh’s agriculture. To know more, visit dae.gov.bd.

â Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
â What is fogging irrigation?
Fogging irrigation is a method where water is sprayed through fine nozzles as tiny mist particles. This helps increase air humidity and reduce temperature, which is ideal for controlled environments like hydroponic grass or greenhouses. DIBL’s Fogging Irrigation Munshiganj project used this method for hydroponic grass cultivation.
â Why is fogging important for hydroponic grass cultivation?
In hydroponic grass cultivation, nutrient-rich water is used instead of soil. Grass needs specific humidity and temperature for healthy growth, which can be precisely controlled through a fogging irrigation system. It provides the grass with necessary water and humidity, which is 2-3 times more effective than manual methods.
â Is this system affordable for all farmers?
The initial one-time cost might seem a bit high, but in the long run, it benefits farmers greatly by saving water, labor, and electricity costs. DIBL offers various fogging solutions for both small and large-scale farmers. The Fogging Irrigation Munshiganj project is an example of this.
â How does DIBL implement this Fogging Irrigation Munshiganj project?
DIBL first evaluates the farmer’s needs and land conditions to create a customized design. Then, it supplies and installs the necessary equipment (pumps, filters, foggers, tubes, etc.). Finally, it trains farmers on system operation and maintenance. Our team in Munshiganj has worked with great efficiency.
â What other crops can be cultivated using fogging irrigation?
Fogging irrigation is highly effective not only for hydroponic grass but also for cultivating tomatoes, cucumbers, capsicums, strawberries, and various flowers in greenhouses. It can be used for cultivating many high-value crops that require specific humidity and temperature. It is very efficient in controlling temperature and humidity.
