Through the use of this modern technology, the correct amount of water and humidity is ensured for the dragon fruit orchard, which will help farmers save labor and increase yields.

DIBL recently completed the installation of a modern irrigation system for a dragon farm on 60 decimal land in Amtala village, Jhenaidah district. This project combined fogging irrigation and drip irrigation, which is highly suitable for dragon farming. KBD, Mamunur Rahman, financed and implemented this project, with Drip Irrigation BD Ltd. (DIBL) conducting the installation work. Our field officer, Md. Masum Billah, expertly supervised this work.

Watering dragon fruit orchards using traditional irrigation methods is a labor-intensive task, especially when cultivated on a large scale. Additionally, maintaining proper humidity for dragon plants and preventing water wastage was a challenge. Due to manual irrigation, labor shortages and the need for additional workers were significant problems, which increased the production costs for farmers.
🔧 DIBL’s Modern Solution: Fogging and Drip Irrigation
DIBL has installed an integrated Dragon Farm Fogging Drip Irrigation system to solve this problem. In this system, water is supplied to the main line via a jet pump. Then, drip tubes are used to deliver water directly to the base of each plant, which reduces water wastage and ensures proper nutrition for the plants. Simultaneously, cross foggers are used to maintain overall humidity in the garden, which aids in the growth and quality improvement of dragon fruits. This automatic system reduces farmer’s labor costs by up to 50%.
This project was completed under the guidance of Mamunur Rahman, with funding from Korea Bangladesh Dragon Project (KBD). Primarily, LDPE drip tubes and cross foggers played a crucial role in this system. The system was successfully installed in just a few days (from March 23, 2024 to March 25, 2024), which demonstrates DIBL’s speed and professionalism.
